Celebrating National Adoption Day

On November 16th, FFCR participated in Miami’s National Adoption Day, spearheaded by Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe, Inc. and supported by The Children’s Trust at the Miami Children’s Museum. All of Miami’s Children’s Court dependency division judges were on hand to preside over 64 adoptions against the whimsical backdrop of the museum’s interactive and child-friendly environment. According to Our Kids, 81% of the adopting families were relatives of the children they adopted. The majority of the adoptions involved one or more siblings. Twelve youth ages 10-12 were adopted and four youth 13 or older were adopted during National Adoption Day. It was a privilege to witness the formalization of so many families, and we are proud that FFCR’s work contributes to these joyful outcomes.
