FFCR Staff & Volunteers Run to Support the United Way of Miami-Dade

FFCR was proud to serve as a sponsor of the UPS 5K benefiting the United Way of Miami-Dade on Saturday, September 8th in beautiful Coral Gables and the neighborhood surrounding the Granada Golf Course. The “FFCR Warriors” team was comprised of 15 staff members, volunteers, family members, and friends. The race started and ended at Merrick Park, across from the City of Coral Gables’ Historic City Hall. We were delighted to have a number of individuals sign up at our tent to learn more about volunteering with FFCR and we had a great time supporting the United Way of Miami-Dade, a partner that has been instrumental in both the formation and continuation of FFCR’s Citizen Review Panel Program. In fact, it was a United Way committee of concerned individuals who joined forces to ensure that Florida passed a law in 1988 approving the use of Citizen Review Panels (CRPs) to review the safety, well-being, and permanency of children in our foster care system. In the nearly 30 years since CRPs were authorized, the United Way of Miami-Dade has provided essential funding for our work, and we are grateful for their support and partnership.

FFCR staff, family, friends and volunteers ran together in the UPS 5K in Coral Gables on September 8, 2018 in support of the United Way.
